The ICC Birmingham is the UK’s premier purpose-built convention centre and its design and construction was hugely significant in its impact on Birmingham, the wider region and indeed the UK in the provision of cutting edge, high quality, flexible, conference space.

The official language of the conference is English.

Dates
The conference will run from the 20th - 22nd June 2012

Climate
Central England on average consists of mild days and fresh nights - but are changing and unstable. Surprisingly warm or cool weather can occur frequently although rain falls throughout the year. The average maximum temperature in Birmingham during June is 21ºC.

Visa
It is the responsibility of the delegates to obtain a visa if required.

Banking Facilities
A cashpoint machine is available which services all major credit and debit cards.

Cloakroom Facilities
A cloakroom is situated on the right hand side of the ICC Mall and is open throughout the conference. A small charge is made for each deposited item.

Electricity
The electrical current in the United Kingdom is 240 volts. Most hotels provide 110 volt outlets for shavers.

Insurance
The conference organisers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss (or damage to) property belonging to conference participants (or their accompanying persons), either during or as a result of the conference.

Mobile Telephones
Please ensure that all mobile telephones are switched off during all sessions.

Smoking Policy
The Organisers wish to stress that this will be a ‘No Smoking’ conference. Smoking in public places in Birmingham, such as restaurants, and on public transport is not permitted.

Refreshment Breaks and Lunches
All lunches and refreshment breaks, as well as the complimentary Welcome Reception will be held in the Exhibition Hall. Lunch will be served on each day to all delegates wearing an official COPD8 name badge. Where possible, products containing modified soya and maize have been avoided but some products may contain ingredients produced from genetically modified maize. Some of the menu items may contain nuts, seeds and other allergens and there may be a risk that traces of these could be in any other dish or food served at the conference. Upon registration please complete the dietary requirments section and inform the registration desk on arrival.
